Texaco for the Wallers:)

On July 4th, Gentian and I competed at a local level of the "Texaco
Country Showdown", under the name "the Goldmine Girls". There were ten
acts, each act getting to perform 2 songs. The contestants are scored from
1-10 in a bunch of different categories including marketability in country
music, originality, vocal and musical abilities and many more. Besides
that, the judges may give a bonus of up to 3 points for playing original
music. There were many amazing performers on the 4th, but in the end,
after the judges tallied up all the scores, we had won! Because of this we
will be competing at the state level on September 10th. There will be at
least 5 different acts from across the state of Michigan coming to the
Island Resort and Casino to compete for the $1,000 prize money and the
chance to participate in further levels. The competition allows each act 7
minutes on stage, and a back up band brought up from Lansing, provided the
band performing has less then three members. The Texaco Country Showdown
is a National competition that has been running for over 30 years! Many of
today's country stars, such as Garth Brooks, Sara Evens and even Brad
Paisley and Martina McBride have competed in the showdown. We are so
excited to be part of this! Wish us luck!

The Waller Go To Kansas

On August 5, 2010, Gentian and RiLee Waller took a 15-hour trip from
Marquette, Michigan, to Overland Park, Kansas. We were asked to perform at
the National Association for County Agricultural Agents Annual Meeting’s
4-H Talent Revue. There were a total of 12 acts from around the Midwest.
We played 2 songs; an instrumental called “Baby Elephants Walk” and an
original tune about 4-H called “Count on Us”. We also were part of the
opening and closing songs, which featured all the performers. The acts
were widely varied, from singers and piano players, to jugglers and
dancers. The talent ranged from ages 9-18. The talent revue was proclaimed
“the best yet” by regular attendees of the meeting! The whole experience
was amazing and a blast to participate in! :)
