Memorial Day Show/UP Cowboy Challenge 2011!!

On May 15th, we had a ride day at the Marquette County Fairgrounds. Directly following afterwards we had a meeting to discuss officially what we would spend our funds on after the Memorial Day Show Fundraiser on May 27-29 2011. It was voted on that we would first buy a panel for the Exercise Pen at the fairgrounds costing $110. And then the following finds would be spent half on the senior horsebowl team to go to Congress in Ohio this fall. The other half will be split between providing money to help members pay for Expo Days at MSU and 4-H camp at Clear Lake this summer.

The Posse 4-H club in conjunction with the Great Lakes Rodeo, Organized and ran a sanctioned UPHA horse show at the Marquette County Fairgrounds this past weekend. Even though it was not the best of weather, we had a great turn out for this large of a fundraiser! You can Check out the Pics!! One of our  own members won the UP Cowboy Challenge in the Juvinille Division!! We also had many other members who participated and volunteered to help make it a successful, fun and safe weekend!! Thanks again!

Horse College 2011:)

At the beginning of May, a few members of our club got together at Peter White Public Library and brainstormed some fun educational hands on activities for a young crowd of kids at Horse College on May 14th 2011. We plan on using some of these ideas at our future 4-H tent at the Marquette County Fair!
It was a success!!!!!!!!! It was a rainy day at Willow Farms yet the Posse once again pulled off a fun filled educational oppurtunity for our horse communtity!  Thanks for coming and helping if you were one of us:)

February 20, 2011 Meeting

We went over the previous meeting minutes and the Treasurers report. We finalized the logo for shirts and then discussed upcoming dates. We were really getting excited about hosing the UP regional contest in Marquette, MI on March 5 2011. We had high hopes of attending the Horse Jamboree at MSU on April 16, 2011. We then elected the club officers and the results were as shown:

President: Cassidy C.
Vice President: Clara C.
Secretary: Camryn C.
Treasurer: Kate G.
We then listened to a report from those that attended the Horse Judging and Public Speaking Demos at MSU on February 4 and 5 2011. The scoop on the Silpada Fundraiser from Jill C. and then any community service ideas people had. We know that for the people who are attending Exploration Days that they will need ten hours of community service and the Carnival at Superior Hills on February 25th is an oppurtunity to earn those hours.
